There is only about an hour and a half until the Discovery launches. It is scheduled to go up at 3:50pm Central, 4:50pm Eastern. If you need a place to watch it, NASA TV has been covering it online all day, so just head on over there.

I read an article a few years ago with some industry expert saying that single player and multiplayer games would be a thing of the past. For a game to succeed, he said, games would need to offer both competently and in the same package. While that has certainly been the attempt for the past few years, I really wish it was not.

News: Tomb Raider Update

without comments

Several juicy bits have been revealed about the upcoming Tomb Raider game, simply titled “Tomb Raider.” As was stated in the previous post, it is an origin story, but it has now been confirmed that it will indeed be a reboot of the entire franchise. It will come in the form of an open world survival game, and it appears to be much grittier than anything we’ve seen from the series before. Even with Crystal Dynamic’s admirable entries into the series, I don’t think that anyone can argue against the franchise’s stagnation. With a fresh start entirely under C.D., hopefully this bodes well for Lara.

Video: Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Teaser

without comments

Announced in Entertainment Weekly, of all places, Uncharted 3 is heading to the PS3 sometime next year. News I think just about anyone with a brain could guess. The game will feature 3D capabilities; a feature that Sony appears adamant on implementing in all of its AAA titles. Entertainment Weekly? Jimmy Fallon? Double U, Tea, Efffffffffffff?

Some promo pics in the full post.

5 Festivus Movies to Fuel Your Seasonal Affective Disorder

without comments

As we near Christmas, televisions across the world are going to be bombarded with all manner of tripe. Lifetime movies starring Fran Drescher as a woman who finds a retarded puppy that teaches her the true meaning of giving. TBS’ infamous “A Christmas Story” marathon, in which they run what you once thought was a good thing into the ground by playing it over and over until you want a b. b. gun to shoot your eyes out.

But this isn’t the way it has to be. In fact, there exists a myriad of under-appreciated films to take in during the  winter months. There’s more to winter than just Christmas and commercialism and religiosity- like Seasonal Affective Disorder. The following motion pictures are ones that aren’t particularly heart-warming. They’re actually pretty bleak and terrible and depressing (in a good way). So gather your friends and family, bolt down your expensive things, and get cynical.
